One of my teachers performed as a drag queen at an open bar in the L’Etage and it was quite hilarious. It reminded me of being back in San Francisco and I couldn’t help but admire all that talent — the singing, the physicality, the impromptu conversations he had with the audience. Suddenly it dawned on me then that I want that kind of talent, that versatility to be anyone, whether it be a punk-skater kid or even Richard III (and I did play as him once for a scene study class). It doesn’t simply take guts to be someone you’re sure (or 100% positive) you can’t pull off, it takes imagination and a sense of pleasure being beneath someone else’s skin. And boy, did I see that tonight. I mean, woman. I mean, oh you know what I mean.
