– Going back home and discussing a redirection for Coffee with Nectar

Angela, who created the site for Coffee with Nectar, and I realized that the current problem with Coffee with Nectar is that there are too few restaurants in Santa Elena that have plants that would give them a good rating. With most of the restaurants having 0 or 1 star, there may be little incentive to plant the native plants we recommended on the site in order to attract more butterflies and hummingbirds, and thereby increasing the overall biodiversity of Santa Elena, which is our original goal.

We then thought maybe if tourists had a greater say in this biodiversity project. That is, more than simply rate restaurants, tourists can help initiate another dialogue not only between them and the locals, but also with other scientists around the world. For example, what if tourists can help identify butterflies or simply take pictures of butterflies yet to be identified and post those to iNaturalist ?

We also thought about making something more tangible, like a naturalist guide. The following are our inspirations:
